Through the collaboration between Digital Innovation Zone (DIZ) and European Digital SME Alliance, experts from the DIZ community have access to opportunities to contribute to European initiatives focused on digital transformation and cybersecurity.
In May, European Digital SME Alliance launched a call for experts to contribute to the development of a practical guide supporting the implementation of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Digital Innovation Zone shared this opportunity with the members of the CAMPUS Cybersecurity Working Group, encouraging them to apply and contribute their expertise to this European initiative.
Following the selection process, Prof. Daniela Popescul, PhD, from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, Assistant Professor Cătălin Mironeanu, PhD, from the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași, and associate lecturer dr. Valentin-Petru Măzăreanu, from “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, an expert in Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) and Cybersecurity, were invited to join the international group of experts responsible for developing the guide.
The guide aims to support SMEs in understanding and implementing the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act, the European regulation that establishes cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements throughout their entire lifecycle. It will provide both an overview of the regulatory and standardisation landscape, as well as practical recommendations and tools to help organisations achieve compliance.
The contribution of the experts from the CAMPUS Working Group will focus on drafting the introductory chapters of the guide, covering its purpose, regulatory context and standardisation framework, as well as preparing the concluding chapter and developing practical checklists for risk assessment and vulnerability handling. In addition, Cătălin Mironeanu will lead the development of a case study on risk management for a small medical device manufacturer, providing SMEs with a practical example of how the CRA requirements can be applied in a real-world scenario.
The participation of these three experts reflects the ongoing work carried out within the CAMPUS Cybersecurity Working Group, an initiative coordinated by Digital Innovation Zone that brings together specialists from academia, research and industry to foster knowledge exchange and strengthen expertise in the field of cybersecurity.
At the same time, this initiative highlights the value of the collaboration between Digital Innovation Zone and European Digital SME Alliance, through which experts from the DIZ community gain access to European calls, working groups and collaborative initiatives where they can share their expertise and contribute to the development of practical resources that support SMEs across Europe.
Digital Innovation Zone will continue to promote such opportunities within the CAMPUS community, encouraging experts from Romania’s North-East region to engage in European initiatives that contribute to the development of a more resilient and competitive digital ecosystem.
