AI4IMPACT WEEK

FII XR develops extended reality experiences (VR, AR, MR) integrated with artificial intelligence, with applications in entertainment, training, education, healthcare, and intelligent navigation. The team works with immersive simulations, gamification, conversational agents, and adaptive interaction, studying how users engage with these technologies. The group's work covers the entire process, from 3D modelling and the design of interactive scenarios to the integration of AI components and prototype testing. Areas of development include VR games and simulations, medical training, AR applications, and intelligent navigation systems. The prototypes developed enable the exploration and validation of new use cases for XR and AI technologies.

Orange 5G Lab Iași is an innovation laboratory developed by Orange in partnership with the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași and Continental. The laboratory provides a platform for testing and developing applications based on 5G technology and is designed for researchers, startups and companies interested in solutions for mobility, IoT and smart communications. A significant part of its activity focuses on applications in the automotive and smart cities fields.

The research group focuses on the study of biologically active molecules with potential applications in biotechnology, including their isolation, identification and characterization, as well as investigation of their biological effects, particularly neurological effects, cytotoxicity, oxidative stress and antimicrobial activity. Current research directions include behavioral testing, investigation of oxidative stress and brain cytotoxicity, and assessment of cognitive processes using animal toxicity models based on 6-hydroxydopamine and beta-amyloid peptide. The group also studies medicinal plants and naturally occurring plant compounds through extraction and characterization methods, investigating oxidative stress in vitro, defense mechanisms against it, and the biochemical characterization of plant and animal extracts. Other areas of interest include antimicrobial activity testing, isolation and characterization of bacterial strains producing biologically active compounds, and protein purification and characterization. The research also integrates bioinformatics methods such as biological sequence analysis, protein structure prediction and molecular interaction modeling through docking in silico, together with computational biophysics approaches and molecular dynamics simulations using NAMD and VMD.

The main objective of this laboratory is to identify, quantify and study the structure of organic pollutants specific to Romania's North-East Region. The laboratory is coordinated by researchers from the Faculty of Chemistry at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași. Its research directions include: monitoring inorganic and organic pollutants in natural matrices; studies to determine the structure of unknown compounds; studies of reaction mechanisms of volatile organic compounds under natural conditions; application of new identification methods; separation, concentration and determination of environmental pollutants; and removal of pollutants from wastewater.

At the center, students, residents, specialists, scientific researchers and nurses have the opportunity to acquire and practice technical medical, clinical or surgical skills, as well as communication and decision-making skills, both individually and as part of a team. They work in a realistic environment with multiple clinical cases so that, through direct or software-based feedback, participants can build confidence in themselves and their actions. Each discipline is equipped with specific simulators for developing basic or advanced skills, including hybrid or high-fidelity simulators, VR and haptic simulators, virtual software platforms, mannequin-based simulators and interactive wirelessly controlled simulators.
