Advisory Board Member Piet Verhoeve

Intelligent collaboration is part of Piet Verhoeve’s DNA as a practitioner of innovation. He gained experience in open innovation, both from the corporate side, as Technical Director of Televic, and from the academic side, as ICON Director at iMinds/imec.

In 2018 he launched the successful co-creation hub Hangar K in Kortrijk and founded his own company Origanius which helps organizations turn innovation ambitions into concrete ideas, solid processes and sustainable partnerships to maximize the chances of success by offering results and growth.

2021 saw the launch of the Medvia crossover ecosystem combining biotechnology, digital technologies and medical technologies in Flanders, an open innovation initiative with 150 partners today. He is dedicated to creating new approaches to establishing strong collaboration, which has resulted in twice winning the Open Innovation Best Practice award at the Open Innovation World Conference (2022 Eindhoven, 2023 Bilbao).

After his engineering studies at KU Leuven, Piet Verhoeve obtained a PhD at Ghent University, in addition to his expertise in the field of photonics, he also gained a lot of experience in European projects. Piet is a visiting professor at Ghent University.

In his little free time, he supports initiatives that excite young people about technical or scientific studies (STEM, Coderdojo).
