Today 05 May 2023 we launch Health Innovation Zone (HIZ by DIZ), the first pre-validation program for health tech solutions, supported by EIT Health and our innovation partners: Technical University Gh. Asachi and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
At the National Bioengineering Conference for Students and Young Researchers (BENG 2023) BENG Conference | Facebook, Cristina Baghiu, project manager from DIZ and representative of EIT Health Community presented what this health innovation program aims to achieve.
The program runs in 3 phases:
- Inspiration: in June they will organize 3 workshops, involving students, master’s students, PhD students, IT experts, start-up teams, experienced tech entrepreneurs, each with an innovation theme in a medical field. We proposed nephrology, cardiology and medical imaging
- design thinking: 10 teams with ideas will go through a 5-month online programme (July – November) where they will pre-validate their idea through interactions with medical experts. The themes of the programme are: Patient Empowerment, Healthcare communication, Healthtech business model, Preliminary validation, User testing
- Access to resources for scaling: throughout the programme, teams will be mentored by international mentors from the EIT Health Mentors & Coaching Network. Furthermore, after the pitching session in November the top 3 solutions will be presented by DIZ at the world’s most prestigious healthcare innovation conference: HealthIL Israel, in December 2022.
