On May 25, 2023, Cluj-Napoca hosted the Launch Conference of the European Digital Innovation Hub for Society: eDIH4Society. This special and highly important event brought together participants from various backgrounds, including academia, research, business, partners, sponsors, and the entire innovation ecosystem.
The opening ceremony provided a platform for inspirational speeches from remarkable personalities. Among the speakers were Andrei Kelemen, CEO of CLUJ IT Cluster, the organization that organized the event, Stelian BRAD, PhD (eng.), PhD (econ.), President of Cluj IT and Coordinator of eDIH4Society, as well as Emil Boc, Mayor of Cluj-Napoca.
Representatives from the DIH4Society consortium partners also made interventions, such as Daniela Popescu, Vice-Rector of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Anca Dodescu, Vice-Rector of the University of Oradea, and Vasile Bar, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bistrița-Năsăud. Additionally, through a video connection, Dragos-Cristian VLAD, President of the Authority for Digitalization in Romania, conveyed messages regarding the country’s priorities regarding digital transformation.
eDIH4Society aims to provide specialized services in three key areas in the North-West region of Romania: cybersecurity, intelligent robotics, and digital skills for SMEs in the manufacturing sector, healthcare sector, and public administration. As part of the European network of digital innovation centers, eDIH4Society will collaborate with other similar initiatives in Romania and Europe to support digital and green transformation of society.
This launch conference highlighted the importance of digital innovation and collaboration in the sustainable development of society. Participants had the opportunity to learn about planned projects and initiatives and share their experiences and knowledge in the field of digitalization. The event represented an important step towards creating an intelligent, secure, and sustainable society where digital and technological innovation is accessible to all.
