Alternatives to European funds for financing the digital transformation of industry in the Moldova Region through EIT Manufacturing

On Tuesday, April 18, EIT Manufacturing opened its annual call for increasing the competitiveness of European industry through innovation and digitization, worth a total of 5.5 million euros. Companies from the North-East Region are eligible to apply in the consortium, with projects pursuing one or more of the following themes:

  1. optimizing production processes and increasing resource efficiency through digital solutions;
  2. socially sustainable and human-centred production;
  3. environmentally sustainable production through circular business models and new technologies.

The projects can propose the innovation of the products/services marketed by the beneficiary or the establishment of new StartUps for the marketing of new innovative products/services, the attraction of public and private capital for the beneficiary, training within the EIT development programs or other objectives defined within this call. The appeal has two phases, with the phase open on April 18 representing only the first of these.

The EIT Manufacturing calendar for this opportunity calls for project implementation to begin on January 1, 2024, but applicants will find out if they have been selected for funding as early as August 2023. Eligible expenses include project implementation services, purchases of research equipment and infrastructure, procurement of licenses and patents, salary expenses and other indirect costs.

EIT Manufacturing is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union, and is one of the eight innovation communities within the EIT. The main goal of EIT Manufacturing is to bring together European actors in the manufacturing sector in innovation ecosystems that add unique value to products, processes and services, and inspire the creation of sustainable and globally competitive manufacturing. EIT Manufacturing brings together more than 80 members (universities, research institutes and enterprises). The representative hub of EIT Manufacturing in Romania has been coordinated by Iceberg Plus since June 2020.
