The collaboration between Romania and the Republic of Moldova is becoming a strategic pillar for developing digital skills, and xDIH is clear proof that innovation takes shape when two regions unite their expertise and vision.
Following the launch event held in Iași at the end of October, the official launch of the cross-border project xDIH – Cross-Border Digital Innovation Hub took place in Chișinău on November 28, 2025. This strategic initiative aims to accelerate the development of digital skills in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
A Cross-Border Partnership for Digital Transformation
The xDIH project is implemented in partnership by:
- “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iași (TUIASI)
- Technical University of Moldova
- Digital Innovation Zone
- ACETI – Association for the Development of Electronic Communications and Innovative Technologies
The initiative is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg NEXT Romania–Republic of Moldova Programme, reflecting Europe’s support for strengthening regional cooperation.
Official launch in Chișinău
The event took place in the Aula Magna of the Technical University of Moldova, bringing together representatives of public authorities, academia, innovation organizations, and the technology community. Their presence highlighted the shared commitment to developing an integrated and competitive digital ecosystem in the cross-border area.
Participants emphasized the importance of modernizing digital infrastructure, training professionals in emerging technologies, and ensuring strategic alignment between the two countries.
What xDIH brings to the region
Through this project, the partners aim to create a cross-border digital innovation hub with the following key objectives:
- facilitating access for universities and SMEs to advanced technologies and specialized expertise;
- developing modern laboratories dedicated to digital skills training;
- implementing educational programs aligned with the competencies of the future;
- strengthening a shared innovation ecosystem between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
xDIH will help reduce digital gaps, support the adoption of emerging technologies, and prepare the workforce for the increasingly complex requirements of the modern economy.
