Digitization of Iași cultural heritage through the Charme project

On November 14, 2024, in the Henri Coandă hall of the Palace of Culture in Iasi, the Digital Innovation Zone was represented by Oana Prunianu and Mădălina Gavril during the presentation of the Charme project.

The event emphasized the urgent need for digitization of cultural heritage, offering concrete examples of European best practices in this field.

About the Chrame project

The Charme project, with an implementation period of 36 months starting in April 2024, is financed through the INTERREG EUROPE program, developed in partnership with the municipalities of Pavia (Italy, project leader), Coimbra (Portugal), Iași (Romania), Turku (Finland), the Urban Community of Grand Poitiers (France), the City Hall of Lviv (Ukraine, Discovery Partner) and the University of Pavia (Advisory Partner), within the EC2U Alliance – European Campus of City-Universities.

During the meeting, digital solutions were presented that can contribute to the protection and promotion of cultural heritage. Also, good practices already existing in Iași were highlighted, such as the “Memory Route” project, a digital map of historical monument buildings.

Together with the IT experts of the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University in Iasi, we are in the process of creating a detailed virtual 3D model of the “St. Hierarch of Dosoftei – Metropolitan. Imaging, laser scanning and all digital tools are provided to create a detailed digital model of the exterior and interior including rooms, exhibits and architectural details.

DIZ’s involvement in this initiative underlines the commitment to support digital innovation and contribute to the development of modern solutions for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
