On June 26, 2025, the first CAMPUS webinar took place, organized by ADR Nord-Est in partnership with Digital Innovation Zone, as part of the consortium of 10 European partners within the CAMPUS – Digital Campuses for European Resilience project. The event brought together representatives of public administration, academia, and technology companies in an open dialogue on the current state and future perspectives of digital resilience in the North-East region of Romania.
Key topics addressed
- Presentation of the CAMPUS project – objectives, activities, and European partnerships, with a focus on supporting local authorities and SMEs to better cope with digital challenges.
- Cybersecurity trends – recent statistics show that, globally, the cost of cybercrime is expected to exceed USD 10.5 trillion annually by the end of 2025, while ransomware and phishing attacks continue to diversify.
- The regional situation in North-East Romania – an analysis conducted at the level of local administrative units revealed the lack of clear security policies in many areas, as well as the urgent need for backup solutions and resilient infrastructures.
- The role, objectives, and working method of the Regional Advisory Group – participants discussed how this mechanism will support the development of regional policy proposals, the exchange of best practices, and the advancement of digital skills, bringing together authorities, universities, companies, and organizations from the digital sector. The group aims to assist SMEs and public institutions in adopting digital security measures, contribute to the development of cybersecurity skills, and foster public–private partnerships to promote innovation. Through regular meetings, regional needs will be identified, policy proposals will be formulated, and best practices will be shared to strengthen digital resilience.
The webinar emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in building regional cybersecurity ecosystems. It also paved the way for:
- The launch of the Regional Advisory Group on cybersecurity, and
- A study visit to Rennes (15–17 September 2025) at the Bretagne Cyber Campus, to exchange experiences and best practices.
This webinar marks the beginning of a series of actions dedicated to strengthening digital resilience and enhancing the capacities of institutions across the North-East region.
